Recording artist, actress, and dancer, Adrienne Bailon, best known as “Chanel” from worldwide sensation The Cheetah Girls, got her start in entertainment at the age of 14. Her film credits include Disney Channel’s That’s So Raven and Buffalo Dreams, the 2006 MTV feature, All You’ve Got, and the feature film, Coach Carter, starring Samuel L. Jackson.
In 1999, Adrienne Bailon became a founding member of 3LW, the multi- platinum, award-winning singing trio with several hits to their name, including No More (Baby I’ma Do Right), Playas Gon’ Play, and I Do (Wanna Get Close to You). The group embarked on the MTV Total Request Live tour with Destiny’s Child in the summer of 2001.
In 2003, Bailon went on to become a founding member of the Cheetah Girls. The group’s 2003 Disney Channel movie, The Cheetah Girls, drew in 84 million viewers worldwide and
instantly established the group as a worldwide sensation. The Cheetah Girls was the first ever majority minority cast of any Disney Channel Movie. Their 2006 tour was among the top 10 most successful tours of that year. After making multiple lucrative merchandising deals, they went on to break the record for highest selling merchandise. Following the release of their successful Christmas album, in 2007, the Cheetah Girls sold out a performance at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in just three minutes, which set a new rodeo attendance record of 73,291. They went on to make two more Disney Channel movies, the most recent of which was the highly anticipated Cheetah Girls: One World, which premiered in August 2008.
In 2009 and 2010, Bailon served as the face of the MTV’s afternoon block, in between programs that included Teen Cribs, Parental Control, and The Sunblock, in addition to several other celebrity interviews she has conducted.
Adrienne Bailon continues to expand in all facets of entertainment. She has several other impending projects including a solo music deal with L.A Reid’s Def Jam label. She is working on her album with some of the hottest and sought after producers, including Brian Michael Cox (Usher, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige), The Dream (Rihanna, Beyonce, Mariah Carey), and K. Brisco (Britney Spears’ Womanizer), among others. In June she completed filming “ I’m in Love with a Church Girl” co-staring Stephen Baldwin and Ja Rule.
Having been fortunate enough to experience success at a young age, Bailon has always focused on giving back and being a positive role model. She continues to be an advocate for girls and a vigilant volunteer for many important causes and charities, including the Girls Scouts of America, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Make-A-Wish, Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day and City of Hope. Additionally, as a teen, Bailon traveled to Nicaragua to live with a local family and help build schools.
Born in Manhattan’s lower east side, Bailon is of Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian descent. She currently splits her time between Los Angeles and New York.
